Project Spotlights

Luxurious Chevron Parquet & Timeless Italian Design

From blush-toned walls to gorgeous chevron parquet flooring, the interior of Nipotina Ristorante has been thoughtfully designed to radiate warmth and personality. The mid-century modern Italian honours ‘Nonna’s kitchen’ with a menu of nostalgic eats in a comfortable atmosphere reminiscent of a seat around your family table.

Luxurious Chevron Parquet & Timeless Italian Design

Like the best  Italian cuisine, the inviting interior of Nipotina Ristorante is simple, elegant and inviting.

Spanning both the ground and basement floors of the property, this once empty retail shell has been transformed into a warm, intimate and atmospheric Italian restaurant that would be at home in any Italian town or city. Adding authentic character to a blank modern canvas is no mean feat, but this project managed it masterfully.

Comfortable luxury is at the heart of Italian interior design, characterised by beautiful details, high quality materials and a harmonious blend of old and new. At Nipotina this is epitomised in richly toned polished wood, classic olive green velvet and on-trend dusky pink walls.

Chevron parquet flooring has a long tradition in Italian interior design, loved for its luxurious simplicity and natural elegance. Here it echoes the clean lines of the decor whilst drawing you naturally you into the space. We designed the bespoke antique finish specifically for this project – a sumptuous chestnut shade with real warmth and depth of colour that is inherently inviting, utterly timeless and the perfect balance for the large windows and pale walls.

To achieve the colour the oak chevron parquet first underwent a natural smoking process where the tannins in the oak are naturally darkened. Not only does this help to create luxurious depth of tone, it also ensures that this is more than skin deep, a practical and necessary benefit in a busy restaurant where scratches and scrapes are inevitable but the floor needs to stay looking beautiful. Once the desired colour was achieved, the floor was sealed with our durable high-performance hardwax oil to create a natural looking, hard wearing finish designed to withstand busy commercial footfall.

Nipotina’s floor is a custom finish that we designed & made for the specifically for this project but if you are looking to create a similar look, check out our Terra Fired Chevron Parquet Flooring
