CAN I FIT WOOD FLOORING IN A BATHROOM?

In short, if you want our wood flooring to work in your bathroom you will just need to manage the amount of water and humidity it’s exposed to and avoid our wide solid oak boards.

To key to managing humidity is to make sure that your bathroom is well ventilated so that any humidity that builds up when the hot water is run dissipates quickly. Most modern bathrooms or ones that have been recently refurbished will meet this criteria easily as they will have effective extraction fans, but if you have an older property that steams up easily, ventilation will be something that you will need to think about at the same time as wood flooring.

Managing the amount of water your wood flooring is exposed to is also relatively simple: use mats when you get out of the shower or the bath, pick up wet towels and mats after use, make sure the shower isn’t leaking or letting water onto the floor and wipe up any pools of water after bath time. Basically, don’t leave water on the surface of your wood floor so that it can soak in and cause stains or expansion.

So, which is the best wood flooring for your bathroom.

If your preference is for wider boards, our Strata Engineered Oak flooring can be used in bathrooms and comes in widths up to a majestic 300mm. It’s worth bearing in mind though that bathrooms are typically one of the smaller rooms in the house so classically proportioned parquet or narrower plank floors are often a good choice as they will make smaller spaces look bigger. They are also naturally more stable solid wood flooring options due to their smaller dimensions.
