Wood Floor Finishes & Maintenance

Is Wood Flooring Practical in a Family Home?

Our real wood floors are undeniably beautiful and make an impressive design feature, but are they a practical choice for a busy family home?

Is Wood Flooring Practical in a Family Home?

Durable High-Quality Finish

The key to the durability of a wood floor really lies in the quality of its finish. We finish all our floors – plank and parquet,  solid or engineered – with two coats of the same high-performance hardwax oil we use for high-traffic commercial projects so they are well equipped to stand the test of family life.

Order some samples and test their quality and performance for yourself; put a glass of wine or mug on them, let mucky hands play with them or test them under paws. Our floors aren’t bomb-proof, and they will need a little TLC to stay looking showroom beautiful, but they are designed with modern living and busy homes in mind.

Suitable for Kitchens and Bathrooms

One of the questions our showroom teams are most commonly asked is whether our wood flooring is practical for kitchens and bathrooms. The answer is a resounding yes – they’re functional as well as beautiful and are no more difficult to care for than tile or natural stone.

You will need to follow some simple guidelines to manage humidity levels and the amount of water the floor is exposed to, but in most cases this just means turning on your extractor fan or opening a window, and wiping up drips, spills and puddles promptly.
