Elegance Oak Plank Fire Doors

Traditional Oak Fire Doors can be hard to find, but our beautiful Oak Plank Fire Doors are proof that safety and authenticity can go hand in hand.

Hand-built in our workshops from solid oak planks, Elegance Oak Plank Fire Doors feature smaller knots and honeyed tones. They create a classic style that is perfect for less rustic or more contemporary style country properties, whilst at the same time offering a reassuring FD30 fire rating.

Like all of our oak plank doors, they are made to measure, feature authentic bead and butt detailing and can be finished with or without traditional rosehead nails.

FROM: £697.00

Our Elegance Oak Plank Fire Doors feature smaller knots and some natural colour variation, ideal for creating a classic, natural style. All knots are carefully hand filled and the doors are then expertly sanded ready to take the finish of your choice. Alternatively you can add one of our internal door finishes.

They are made to measure in our workshops so non standard sizes are not a problem. Simply choose the ‘up to’ size that suits your door and then enter your exact size in the box below.

Oak Plank Fire Doors are built from individual planks of sustainable solid French Oak and horizontal solid Oak ledges. We use one set of planks to make the face of the door and another to make the rear, housing a  discreet intumescent (fire retardent) core between them.

They are designed to be hung using traditional ‘T’ hinges, and whichever side of the doors these are fitted to will open towards you.

If you are fitting the hinges to the face of the door you will need to order it with Stopped Ledges which are stopped slightly short of the edge of the door to accommodate the door stop. These are bevelled all round.

If you are fitting the hinges to the rear of the door you will need to order it with Thru Ledges which run through to the edge of the door and prevent an ugly gap under the hinge. These are bevelled top and bottom only.

They will need to be closed with a surface mounted latch such as our Cottage Latches or Rim Locks. They cannot be fitted with a traditional Suffolk Latch as this requires a slot to be cut into the door that would compromise their fire rating.

As standard Plank Fire Doors  are finished with decorative rosehead nails fixed through the face in line with the ledges. This is in addition to being fixed with screws covered with discreet oak plugs from the rear. Fire doors can be made without rosehead nails for a less traditional look, but in this case they will also be fixed through the face with screws and discreet oak plugs.

Our Oak Plank Doors do not have diagonal braces as standard as these are not required for stability when you use stable kiln dried oak, but we can be supply them as an extra if you would like them as an aesthetic detail.

Our Oak Plank Fire Doors have an FD30 fire test.

Solid Oak Door Liners with smoke seals are available to complement our Oak Plank Fire Doors and are normally required to meet building regulations for an FD30 rating.

They were fire tested fitted with our traditional T Hinges and Latches and their rating allows for these.

Our Oak Plank Fire Doors are designed to be fitted with traditional ‘T’ or strap hinges and whichever face these are fitted to will be the one that opens towards you.

Our Oak Plank Fire Doors are a little heavier than a traditional Oak Plank Door, so we recommend hanging them on 3 hinges rather than the usual pair to accommodate the extra weight.

They were fire tested fitted with our traditional T Hinges and their rating allows for these. They will need to be closed with a surface mounted latch such as our Cottage Latches or Rim Locks. They cannot be fitted with a traditional Suffolk Latch as this requires a slot to be cut into the door that would compromise their fire rating.

We offer a range of beautiful internal door finishes for our Oak Plank Fire Doors, which are expertly applied in our workshops so that your door can be ready to hang on delivery.

Alternatively, if you would like to seal your door yourself we recommend our easy to apply, natural looking hardwax oil finishes.
