Light and Pale Wood Flooring

why choose a PALE wood floor

Light and pale shades show off the natural grain of the timber in a subtle but impactful way, creating a calm, relaxed feel in a room. Light floors also have a naturally modern feel that lifts the mood and will make any space appear bigger and brighter, making them the perfect choice for more contemporary living rooms, bedrooms and offices, as well as for break-out or relaxation spaces in commercial settings.

In short, they are wonderfully versatile and makes a great base for a wide range of design styles and colour schemes.

How to choose your PALE wood floor

We carry an enviable spectrum of lighter wood flooring options from reclaimed and rustic to elegant and contemporary in style, all of which are made in Wales and are produced from sustainably sourced European Oak. We make them on plank, parquet and chevron in different sizes so you’re guaranteed to be able to match the style and scale of your room, and we also carry plenty of options for underfloor heating.

It’s now easier than ever to find and shortlist your favourites by browsing by colour on our website or using the handy colour guide in our brochure. You can use our handy flooring visualiser tool to help you imagine what the floor will look like in-situ and help you choose between different sizes and formats if you are having trouble deciding what’s right for your space.

Once you’ve whittled it down to your top 3, we always recommend ordering samples so you can test them out in the room you intend to lay them (a handy guide on how best do do this can be found here), and visiting a showroom so you can see some large sample boards and benefit from the advice from of friendly team of experts.

But are they practical?

There’s a common myth about light wood floors; that they’re more fragile and difficult to care for. With a Broadleaf floor, that’s simply not the case. Like all of our beautiful wood floors, those in lighter tones are finished with a professional natural hardwax oil that is water repellent, stain resistant and designed for modern living. It’s easy to care for and should you need to refurbish it it can be simply re-applied without sanding off the original finish.

That said, it is true that paler shades can show dirt more quickly than darker tones in high-traffic areas, so if this a concern for you we would suggest choosing a design with a contrasting darker grain in this case.
